Caux Collective Introduces: George Condo
Attempting to choose just one favourite ‘anything’ in a field where there are thousands of potential options is rarely an easy task. However, when it comes to choosing my favourite contemporary artist, there is a clear winner. Through his collaborative work with Kanye West, American Contemporary Artist George Condo first came to my attention around 2010. His striking, diverse work not only pleases and entertains with its playful use of colour and disregard for normality, but also disturbs and intrigues, using sometimes haunting disfigurements and wretched contortions to portray underlying meanings to any given portrait, exhibited especially well in the first image in the photoset, named ‘The Cracked Cardinal’. These abundantly clear talents, I feel, really set Condo apart from many other artists.
If you’d like to see more of George Condo’s artwork you can head over to the Artnet website to see some of his most recent pieces in auction, or take a look at the Wikipedia entry, to see a brief history of his life and work.
